Freedom is the ability to make choices without encroaching on another person’s rights. It also relates to the power to earn and to live in any way you choose. Individuals who feel free and empowered have more control over their lives, resulting in higher levels of productivity. The advantages of freedom are massive and can lead to a greater sense of wellbeing, a higher GDP per capita and a happier society. Freedoms can be categorized in various ways: the most obvious are freedom of speech, freedom to join political parties, trade unions or clubs and the right to protest. These are essential to society and allow individuals to express their opinions, ideas, values and beliefs freely. Another form of freedom involves the personal freedom to live where you want to, work in any job you choose and pursue any hobby or passion that you desire. This personal freedom can help build self-esteem, allowing individuals to grow and become who they want to be. It can also result in higher levels of personal wealth and a happier and healthier lifestyle. One of the most significant benefits of freedom is that it allows individuals to express themselves and create new ideas that can address societal issues. Freedom of expression can help with scientific and technological breakthroughs, and it can also help to reduce poverty and inequality within a society. The concept of freedom also relates to the ability to live in a country that respects human rights and does not violate the dignity of its citizens. This can include a range of activities, from being able to vote in elections to traveling freely around the world. The right to travel can also provide people with the opportunity to experience different cultures and learn about other countries. There are many different images of freedom, but perhaps the most powerful is that of a freed slave or prisoner. It is this image that has been used most often to illustrate the value of freedom and it is this which we will use as our main illustration. It was July 2003 and the Congress brass had gathered in Shimla for a party chief ministers’ conference. Senior leaders were lodged at a five-star hotel close to the venue. Hours before the inaugural session, one of Pranab Mukherjee’s aides came rushing down the stairs to help his boss prepare for the day. As he took a turn on the corridor leading to Mukherjee’s room, the aide was gobsmacked. There, outside the closed doors of the hotel room, Manmohan Singh, then the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, was waiting patiently with a bunch of documents in his hand for Mukherjee to come out. Tales of Manmohan Singh’s modesty, grace and humility are folklores in the corridors of power. As a Rajya Sabha member, Singh loved to come to the old Parliament library to spend some quiet time and read articles on economy in foreign and Indian magazines. One day, he ordered a glass of lassi at the Delhi milk department counter outside the Central Hall, but at the time of payment, Singh — not the one to carry wads of currency notes — found himself short of cash. Curious onlookers gathered to watch an unusual scene: the shopkeeper pleading with Singh to not to worry about payments, but the man -- the architect of India’s economic reforms — scraping his pockets for coins and small notes to pay the modest bill of ₹ 7. Finally, when he managed to foot the bill, Manmohan Singh grinned through his beard to a delighted crowd of lawmakers and Parliament officials before walking back into Central Hall. In New Delhi’s revolving landscape of power, no one expected that Singh, an economist and technocrat turned finance minister in the Narsimha Rao government, would become the Prime Minister of India. In April 2004, Congress leader Anand Sharma threw a party at his bungalow after he re-entered the Rajya Sabha. In one corner of the lawn, with a glass of juice in his hand, journalists spotted the leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Manmohan Singh, standing alone. Little did they know that, on May 18, Singh would accompany Congress president Sonia Gandhi to meet President APJ Abdul Kalam and become the next Prime Minister of India. His appointment to the top post, however, changed little in his personal life. In the first core committee meeting after the formation of the UPA government, he addressed Mukherjee as “sir”— as he had done for several years. This time Mukherjee objected -- the PM can’t address the defence minister as “sir”. Thereafter, Singh called him Pranab ji, and Mukherjee would simply say, “Pranab here” when he made a call to the PMO. But in his Cabinet meetings, Manmohan, in his polite but firm tone, would always put his points across. His calm, often monotonous voice, camouflaged emotions but it also had a unique flavour of assertiveness. Singh once told a Cabinet minister that the latter was responsible for “single-handedly trying to derail” India’s growth agenda. In another meeting, then rural development minister Jairam Ramesh’s arguments against FDI were cut short by Singh, as he asked P Chidambaram to speak because “he is the finance minister”. In the next meeting, Vayalar Ravi’s apprehensions on reforms were dismissed, and Singh reminded the former trade union veteran that “we have to take decisions”. Similarly, Ghulam Nabi Azad prompted a rare, two-minute-long intervention by the PM in which he spoke about cutting expenses and following the path of austerity. His daughters Daman Singh (who visited his father almost every morning during that period) and Upinder Singh often gave the PM inputs on his speeches. And witty cabinet colleagues quickly point out that while the Congress had a “Core Group”, Singh had a “Kaur group”. Towards the end of his 10-year term in the top office of India, Manmohan Singh emphasised that history will be kinder to him. To people who knew him, he was always kind in personal life. One of Singh’s close relatives had died in Kolkata, and the PM flew down to pay his last respects. A local gurdwara was decked up for Singh’s arrival, and person in the gurdwara was given the responsibility of offering Singh drinking water. The PM arrived, and had the glass of water. Minutes later, priests noticed that the man crying. They asked him what happened. With tears rolling down his cheeks, the old man replied, “For so many years, I have served people here. Today, for the first time in my life, someone actually said, ‘thank you very much’.”

New 2025 laws hit hot topics from AI in movies to rapid-fire guns12. Clemson Tigers 10-3 (7-1 Atlantic Coast Conference regular season) What's next: First-round at No. 5 seed Texas, Dec. 21 Head coach: Dabo Swinney (17th season, 180-46 overall) About Swinney: The 55-year-old, who is 6-4 in the CFP, took over during the 2008 season and has won two national titles (2016, 2018). He will take the Tigers to the CFP the first time since the 2020 season and the seventh time overall. Resume The Tigers, the only three-loss team in the 12-team field, were in a must-win situation in the ACC championship game, prevailing on a last-second, 56-yard field goal to defeat SMU 34-31. Clemson lost two games to SEC opponents (Georgia and South Carolina) this season. The Tigers' other defeat came at home to Louisville. The matchup with Texas will be Clemson's first true road game against the SEC this season. Postseason history A nine-time winner of the ACC Championship Game, the Tigers notched a double-figure win total for the 13th time in the last 14 seasons. Along with its two national titles, Clemson reached the title game two other times (2019 and 2015). This will be the first Clemson-Texas matchup. The road to Atlanta It will be a tricky road for the Tigers to reach the CFP title game in Atlanta at a venue familiar to Clemson fans. The Tigers will take at least two and maybe three trips outside of their own time zone to qualify for the final. Names to know QB Cade Klubnik Klubnik, a Texas native, has been taking snaps in crucial situations since a limited role as a freshman in 2022, when he rescued the Tigers in an ACC Championship victory vs. North Carolina. Sporting a 19-8 career record as a starter, Klubnik has thrown for 3,303 yards and 33 touchdowns along with five interceptions this season. He tossed four TDs in the ACC title game Dec. 7 against SMU after receiving All-ACC honorable mention following the regular season. "He's battle-tested," Swinney said. "He has got a lot of experience under his belt. He has had some failure, which has made him better." RB Phil Mafah The senior has racked up 1,106 rushing yards with eight touchdowns this season and has 28 career scores. Mafah has averaged fewer than 17 carries per game, so he makes the most of his opportunities, and at 230 pounds he can be a load to bring down. DE T.J. Parker He's been disruptive on a regular basis, racking up 19 tackles for loss (11 sacks) this season. The 265-pound sophomore helped set the tone in the ACC title game when the Tigers feasted on early SMU mistakes. Parker is tied for the Division I lead with six forced fumbles this season. K Nolan Hauser The freshman joined the Tigers this season with great acclaim and produced a career highlight with a 56-yard game-winning field goal -- the longest in ACC title game history -- to beat SMU at the buzzer. --Field Level MediaSinger Khalid addresses sexuality speculation after being ‘outed’By JAMIE STENGLE, Associated Press DALLAS (AP) — More than 60 years after President John F. Kennedy was assassinated , conspiracy theories still swirl and any new glimpse into the fateful day of Nov. 22, 1963, in Dallas continues to fascinate . President-elect Donald Trump promised during his reelection campaign that he would declassify all of the remaining government records surrounding the assassination if he returned to office. He made a similar pledge during his first term, but ultimately bended to appeals from the CIA and FBI to keep some documents withheld. At this point, only a few thousand of the millions of governmental records related to the assassination have yet to be fully released, and those who have studied the records released so far say that even if the remaining files are declassified, the public shouldn’t anticipate any earth-shattering revelations. “Anybody waiting for a smoking gun that’s going to turn this case upside down will be sorely disappointed,” said Gerald Posner, author of “Case Closed,” which concludes that assassin Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone. Friday’s 61st anniversary is expected to be marked with a moment of silence at 12:30 p.m. in Dealey Plaza, where Kennedy’s motorcade was passing through when he was fatally shot. And throughout this week there have been events marking the anniversary. Nov. 22, 1963 When Air Force One carrying Kennedy and first lady Jacqueline Kennedy touched down in Dallas , they were greeted by a clear sky and enthusiastic crowds. With a reelection campaign on the horizon the next year, they had gone to Texas on political fence-mending trip. But as the motorcade was finishing its parade route downtown, shots rang out from the Texas School Book Depository building. Police arrested 24-year-old Oswald and, two days later, nightclub owner Jack Ruby fatally shot Oswald during a jail transfer. A year after the assassination, the Warren Commission, which President Lyndon B. Johnson established to investigate the assassination, concluded that Oswald acted alone and there was no evidence of a conspiracy. But that hasn’t quelled a web of alternative theories over the decades. The collection In the early 1990s, the federal government mandated that all assassination-related documents be housed in a single collection in the National Archives and Records Administration. The collection of over 5 million records was required to be opened by 2017, barring any exemptions designated by the president. Trump, who took office for his first term in 2017, had boasted that he’d allow the release of all of the remaining records but ended up holding some back because of what he called the potential harm to national security. And while files have continued to be released during President Joe Biden’s administration, some still remain unseen. The documents released over the last few years offer details on the way intelligence services operated at the time, and include CIA cables and memos discussing visits by Oswald to the Soviet and Cuban embassies during a trip to Mexico City just weeks before the assassination. The former Marine had previously defected to the Soviet Union before returning home to Texas. Mark S. Zaid, a national security attorney in Washington, said what’s been released so far has contributed to the understanding of the time period, giving “a great picture” of what was happening during the Cold War and the activities of the CIA. Withheld files Posner estimates that there are still about 3,000 to 4,000 documents in the collection that haven’t yet been fully released. Of those documents, some are still completely redacted while others just have small redactions, like someone’s Social Security number. There are about 500 documents where all the information is redacted, Posner said, and those include Oswald’s and Ruby’s tax returns. “If you have been following it, as I have and others have, you sort of are zeroed in on the pages you think might provide some additional information for history,” Posner said. Trump’s transition team hasn’t responded to questions this week about his plans when he takes office. A continued fascination From the start, there were those who believed there had to be more to the story than just Oswald acting alone, said Stephen Fagin, curator of the Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza, which tells the story of the assassination from the building where Oswald made his sniper’s perch. “People want to make sense of this and they want to find the solution that fits the crime,” said Fagin, who said that while there are lingering questions, law enforcement made “a pretty compelling case” against Oswald. Larry J. Sabato, director of the University of Virginia Center for Politics, said his interest in the assassination dates back to the event itself, when he was a child. “It just seemed so fantastical that one very disturbed individual could end up pulling off the crime of the century,” Sabato said. “But the more I studied it, the more I realized that is a very possible, maybe even probable in my view, hypothesis.”

MOCA Foundation, the community-owned cultural foundation and steward of MOCA Coin (MOCA), has announced that MOCA has now listed on Upbit and Bithumb. Additionally, Binance Futures has launched a USDS-Margined MOCAUSDT perpetual contract with up to 75x leverage. USDS-Margined contracts are crypto derivatives quoted and settled in USDT, BUSD or USDC. At the time of writing MOCA Coin had a 24-hour trade volume of more than US$1.6 billion. Moca Network expands The Moca Network – which provides users with one universal account for assets, identity, and reputation across ecosystems – is built on open, user-centric decentralised infrastructure, evolved out of Animoca Brands’ flagship project Mocaverse. Mocaverse began as Animoca Brands’ first official membership NFT project and provides a Web3 platform for consumers to participate in and maximise their exposure to Web3 experiences and rewards. Animoca Brands’ objective for the Mocaverse is to build the largest Web3 gaming/metaverse publishing platform. Earlier this year, Mocaverse launched Moca ID, the pilot on-chain identity system of Realm SDK. Since launch, more than 1.79m Moca IDs have been registered and more than 160 Web3 activations have been launched with partners that include Pixels, Blocklords, Trust Wallet, OKX Wallet and various others. Animoca Brands said Mocaverse would continue to expand the Moca Network and drive consumer crypto adoption by integrating large, user-base ecosystems via partnerships with major companies and communities. The company recently announced an additional tranche of US$10m funding to advance the Mocaverse Web3 platform. Listing of MOCA Coin follows partnership with SK Planet The listing of MOCA on Upbit and Bithumb follows the recent announcement of a business partnership between Mocaverse and SK Planet, one of South Korea’s largest information and communications technology platforms. Together Mocaverse and SK Planet will co-create blockchain-enabled user experiences within SK Planet's existing internet services, leveraging Mocaverse’s Realm SDK. Animoca Brands’ co-founder and executive chairman Yat Siu said MOCA’s listing on Upbit and Bithumb and Mocaverse’s partnership with SK Planet demonstrated the ecosystem’s commitment to the South Korean market. “Binance Futures’ MOCAUSDT perpetual contract reflects growing recognition of Mocaverse's potential in the Web3 space,” he said. “Mocaverse has transformed from an initial membership NFT project into a platform that simplifies Web3 access for millions. “We believe Mocaverse is bridging traditional internet services with blockchain technology, playing a crucial role in driving mainstream Web3 adoption, ultimately fostering a more open digital future.” Mocaverse project lead Kenneth Shek agreed and said MOCA listing on Upbit and Bithumb would provide access to South Korean users following the partnership with SK Planet. “We are excited to work with our core Realm SDK partners to co-create the Mocaverse ecosystem with universal accounts and digital identity,” he said. Nikita Hand, won her claim against him for damages in a High Court civil case , after accusing the fighter of raping her in a Dublin hotel in December 2018. A jury of eight women and four men spent six hours and 10 minutes deliberating before returning its verdict after days of listening to evidence and closing speeches. She had also taken a case against another man, James Lawrence, alleging that he assaulted her by having sex with her without her consent in the Beacon Hotel. The jury found that he did not assault her. McGregor shook his head after the jury read out that Ms Hand had won her case against him before declining to comment as he left court. Now, McGregor has launched a furious tirade on social media. "Two men falsely accused. One vindicated, the other soon to be!" he said. "Congrats James Lawrence on absolute exoneration! Twice this heinous accusation was put to you and twice it was shown as FALSE! LIES! It is absolutely disgraceful what they put you through here. Disgraceful! "I look forward to seeing you further vindicate yourself and lambast those responsible in court! We know what happened that night! Everyone present knows, yet it was ignored. Every single statement of persons present on the night was ignored. And they all disputed Nikita’s LIES! "However James they did believe you but just in certain parts for some strange reason. And they apparently did not believe Danielle Kealy at all. Laughable! Also with the damages (60k and 188k, interesting choice of figures) it seems they didn’t believe Nikita much either. "How could they, her original story was she was gang raped by security and chased from the hotel on foot. Absolute nonsense. How these lies were accepted, I will never know. A court of feeling and opinion, brainwashed in to people via the main stream media. Not of fact! "The reporting in court a laughing stock to everyone present. As clear as day bias. This is not a court of hard evidence and truth. It is a kangaroo court of opinions and feelings. We are not done yet. Not by a long shot. No chance. On we fight! Justice and truth will prevail! Appeal! Appeal! Appeal! As well as other. Congrats James! Onwards and upwards!"

These changes see both model ranges start significantly higher than before with the removal of the outgoing base grades – the CX-3 now starts from $30,370 plus on-road costs and the Mazda 2 from $26,990. That said, the respective Evolve grades see the additional features added for only a few hundred dollars extra. Also notably absent from the upgrade list is the larger 10.25-inch Mazda Connect infotainment system and Mazda Connected Services available overseas. It appears these still remain unavailable to the Japanese brand’s cheapest models in Australia. Both the MY25 Mazda CX-3 and Mazda 2 ranges are on sale now. of the Dimensity 9400+ today, a total upgrade of its flagship Dimensity 9400 chip. Aimed at increasing high-end smartphone performance, it features higher CPU and GPU clock speeds. The new chip is set to change people’s perceptions of , which is often associated with budget devices, especially in the USA. The Dimensity 9400+ has the chance of powering flagship phones like the upcoming OPPO Find X8 series and Xiaomi’s Redmi K80 Ultra. However, it will require more than some small upgrades to compete with competitors such as Qualcomm. The Dimensity 9400+ as stated before is an upgrade from its previous iterations and thus has a higher peak clock speed of 3.70 GHz from its previous 3.63 GHz, which is a slight increase in performance than anything. The chip also retains its previous core configuration with the same octa-core configuration, with one Arm Cortex-X925 core, three Cortex-X4 cores, and four Cortex-A720 cores. The Dimensity 9400+ also incorporates the Imagiq 1080 ISP, leveraging QPD technology to improve light capture, faster and better focus and provide a high-resolution image output. The chip’s GPU also receives a minor frequency bump, improving graphical performance and better visual experience. It also is supposed to incorporate MediaTek’s advanced AI engine that supports a large set of Large Language Models (LLM), Small Language Models (SLM), and Multimodal Large Language Models (LMM). All of these enable features like , text writing, media generation and other such facilities. The incremental improvements that it brings compared to its predecessor, some critics believe are not enough to significantly shift the market dynamics to MediaTek’s favour. If the company wishes to be considered more than a budget chip maker, the Dimensity 9400+ might not be the best bet moving forward, all is however to be seen in the market performance it delivers.12. --Field Level MediaBy Arpan Chaturvedi NEW DELHI (Reuters) -Adani Group founder Gautam Adani responded for the first time on Saturday to allegations by U.S. authorities that he was part of a $265 million bribery scheme, saying that his ports-to-power conglomerate was committed to world class regulatory compliance. The indictment is the second major crisis to hit Adani in just two years, sending shockwaves across India and beyond. One Indian state is reviewing a power deal with the group, France’s TotalEnergies decided to pause its investments and political rows over Adani have disrupted India’s parliament. “Less than two weeks back, we faced a set of allegations from the U.S. about compliance practices at Adani Green Energy. This is not the first time we have faced such challenges,” Adani said in a speech at an awards ceremony. U.S. authorities have accused Gautam Adani, his nephew and executive director Sagar Adani and managing director of Adani Green, Vneet S. Jaain, of being part of a scheme to pay bribes to secure Indian power supply contracts, and misleading U.S. investors during fundraisings in the country. Adani Group has denied the allegations, describing them as “baseless” and vowing to seek “all possible legal recourse”. “What I can tell you is that every attack makes us stronger and every obstacle becomes a stepping stone for a more resilient Adani Group,” Adani said in the northern Indian city of Jaipur. “In today’s world, negativity spreads faster than facts, and as we work through the legal process, I want to re-confirm our absolute commitment to world class regulatory compliance,” he added, without giving further details. Adani Group’s finance chief on Friday rejected the allegations, while the Indian government said it had not received any U.S. request regarding the case. At one point, Adani Group’s listed companies saw as much as $34 billion wiped off their combined market value, but the stocks have recovered ground as some partners and investors have rallied behind the conglomerate. President Joe Biden spoke Sunday on the collapse of the Syrian government under Bashar Assad, calling the moment a "fundamental act of justice" after more than two decades of oppression. "After 13 years of civil war in Syria and more than half a century of brutal authoritarian rule by Bashar Assad and his father before him, rebel forces have forced Assad to resign his office and flee the country," Biden said. "We're not sure where he is but there's word that he's in Moscow. At long last the Assad regime has fallen. This regime brutalized and tortured and killed literally hundreds of thousands of innocent Syrians. The fall of the regime is a fundamental act of justice. It's a moment of historic opportunity for the long-suffering people of Syria." RELATED STORY | The fall of Bashar Assad after 13 years of war in Syria brings to an end a decades-long dynasty President Biden, speaking from the White House just hours after rebels overthrew the Syrian government and Assad fled the country, said while the news is positive for the Middle East, warned that it marks "a moment of risk and uncertainty." "As we all turn to the question of what comes next, the United States will work with our partners and the stakeholders in Syria to help them seize an opportunity to manage the risks," he said. "You know, for years, the main backers of Assad have been Iran, Hezbollah and Russia. But over the last week their support collapsed — all three of them. Because all three of them are far weaker today than they were when I took office." RELATED STORY | Family of kidnapped American reporter still believes he is alive in Syria Meanwhile, President Biden also spoke on Austin Tice, a former U.S. Marine and freelance journalist who disappeared in August 2012 while covering the Syrian civil war. Tice's family believes he is still alive in Syria, and President Biden said his administration will continue to work to locate him and bring him home. "We believe he's alive. We think we can get him back. But we have no direct evidence of that yet and Assad should be held accountable," he said. "... We want to get him out."Go brings aid to Batangas folk

Athletic director Bernard Muir announced Saturday that Luck has been hired as the general manager of the Stanford football team, tasked with overseeing all aspects of the program that just finished a 3-9 season under coach Troy Taylor. “I am a product of this university, of Nerd Nation; I love this place,” Luck said. “I believe deeply in Stanford’s unique approach to athletics and academics and the opportunity to help drive our program back to the top. Coach Taylor has the team pointed in the right direction, and I cannot wait to work with him, the staff, and the best, brightest, and toughest football players in the world.” Luck has kept a low profile since his surprise retirement from the NFL at age 29 when he announced in August 2019 that he was leaving the Indianapolis Colts and pro football. In his new role, Luck will work with Taylor on recruiting and roster management, and with athletic department and university leadership on fundraising, alumni relations, sponsorships, student-athlete support and stadium experience. “Andrew’s credentials as a student-athlete speak for themselves, and in addition to his legacy of excellence, he also brings a deep understanding of the college football landscape and community, and an unparalleled passion for Stanford football,” Muir said. “I could not think of a person better qualified to guide our football program through a continuously evolving landscape, and I am thrilled that Andrew has agreed to join our team. This change represents a very different way of operating our program and competing in an evolving college football landscape.” Luck was one of the players who helped elevate Stanford into a West Coast powerhouse for several years. He helped end a seven-year bowl drought in his first season as starting quarterback in 2009 under coach Jim Harbaugh and led the Cardinal to back-to-back BCS bowl berths his final two seasons, when he was the Heisman Trophy runner-up both seasons. Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck throws a pass during the first quarter of a Nov. 27, 2010 game against Oregon State in Stanford, Calif. That was part of a seven-year stretch in which Stanford posted the fourth-best record in the nation at 76-18 and qualified for five BCS bowl berths under Harbaugh and David Shaw. But the Cardinal have struggled for success in recent years and haven't won more than four games in a season since 2018. Stanford just finished its fourth straight 3-9 campaign in Taylor's second season since replacing Shaw. The Cardinal are the only power conference team to lose at least nine games in each of the past four seasons. Luck graduated from Stanford with a bachelor’s degree in architectural design and returned after retiring from the NFL to get his master’s degree in education in 2023. He was picked No. 1 overall by Indianapolis in the 2012 draft and made four Pro Bowls and was AP Comeback Player of the Year in 2018 in his brief but successful NFL career. Before the 2023 National Football League season started, it seemed inevitable that Bill Belichick would end his career as the winningest head coach in league history. He had won six Super Bowls with the New England Patriots and 298 regular-season games, plus 31 playoff games, across his career. Then the 2023 season happened. Belichick's Patriots finished 4-13, the franchise's worst record since 1992. At the end of the year, Belichick and New England owner Robert Kraft agreed to part ways. And now, during the 2024 season, Belichick is on the sideline. He's 26 wins from the #1 spot, a mark he'd reach in little more than two seasons if he maintained his .647 career winning percentage. Will he ascend the summit? It's hard to tell. Belichick would be 73 if he graced the sidelines next season—meaning he'd need to coach until at least 75 to break the all-time mark. Only one other NFL coach has ever helmed a team at age 73: Romeo Crennel in 2020 for the Houston Texans. With Belichick's pursuit of history stalled, it's worth glancing at the legends who have reached the pinnacle of coaching success. Who else stands among the 10 winningest coaches in NFL history? Stacker ranked the coaches with the most all-time regular-season wins using data from Pro Football Reference . These coaches have combined for 36 league championships, which represents 31.6% of all championships won throughout the history of pro football. To learn who made the list, keep reading.
