Chaz Lanier scored a game-high 18 points for the Volunteers (7-0), who expanded on a 35-20 halftime lead with a 43-15 second half. Felix Okpara had 10 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks, helping Tennessee command the paint along with Igor Milicic, who added nine points and 13 rebounds. Zakai Zeigler nearly had a double-double with 11 points and nine assists. The Volunteers used their size to their advantage, outscoring UT Martin 36-10 in the paint and out rebounding the Skyhawks 49-24. That included 20 offensive rebounds for Tennessee, which led to 19 second-chance points. UT Martin (2-5) was cold coming out of the locker room after halftime, missing its first eight shots. Conversely, the Vols started the second half with a nine-point run to extend their lead to 24 points. The Vols never let the Skyhawks score consecutive baskets in the first half, holding UT Martin to 25 percent shooting (4 of 16) from beyond the arc and allowing a total of only three points from the starting five. For the game, guard Josue Grullon led UT Martin with 15 points. The leading scorer in the Ohio Valley Conference entering Friday at 18.2 points per game, Grullon has not started any game for head coach Jeremy Shulman. Most of the Skyhawks' points -- 28 of 35 -- came from their reserves. The starting five combined to score seven points -- six points from Matija Zuzic and a free throw for Lamine Niag. The starters went a combined 2 of 18 from the floor, while UT Martin as a team shot 22.6 percent (12 of 53) from the field. The Skyhawks made 5 of 7 free-throw attempts and made 18 turnovers. The Volunteers, who got 23 points off the bench, were 8-for-10 and had 11 turnovers. Tennessee improved to 6-0 all-time against UT Martin since 1993. --Field Level Media

Acer Predator Triton Neo 16 Review
Wild first season in expanded Big 12 comes down to final weekend
Barcelona have won their fourth consecutive League Phase match in this season’s UEFA Champions League to solidify their spot in the Top 8 thanks to a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Brest on Tuesday night at the Montjuïc Olympic Stadium. Barça were by far the better team throughout the night but needed to wait 65 minutes to finally establish a comfortable lead, but Hansi Flick’s troops eventually cruised to a quality win at home to end their mini-slump and get a little closer to an automatic spot in the Round of 16. FIRST HALF Barça needed only 10 minutes to establish their advantage as Robert Lewandowski was fouled inside the box by Brest goalkeeper Marco Bizot, and scored the 100th Champions League goal of his career from the penalty spot to put the Blaugrana in front. The home team was far superior from the get-go, not allowing the visitors any joy on the counter and showing excellent intensity out of possession to recover the ball while also playing with good pace and precision with their passing. The only issue for the last 35 minutes was in the final third: Barça always missed the last pass to truly unlock the Brest defense, and often failed to capitalize on really good chances by making poor decisions or not executing easy passes that would have surealy led to more goals. Brest also managed to avoid conceding a second goal with a couple of crucial interventions by their defenders and one or two big saves by Bizot, and the visitors were somehow still alive as we reached the end of the period. The halftime whistle came to end a half in which Barça took an early lead and controlled the rest of the period, but failed to capitalize on that dominance and only took a one-goal advantage into the break. They were playing quite well after 45 minutes, but needed to be better in the final third to make sure of the three points in the second half. SECOND HALF It was more of the same to start the second half as Barça retained their territorial advantage and continued to play some beautiful stuff up until the final third, but they either wasted promising attacks with silly mistakes or missed big chances — including an effort by Dani Olmo inside the box that was cleared off the line — and the score stayed 1-0 as we reached the hour mark. But the Catalans kept pressing and not allowing Brest any space or time to breathe, and their pressure eventually paid off as Gerard Martín played a gorgeous ball into the box to find Dani Olmo, who weaved his way through a couple of defenders and beat the keeper to finally double Barça’s lead. The final 25 minutes were fully dominated by the Blaugrana , who managed the game very well and didn’t allow Brest any chances. They eventually scored a third in added time when Alejandro Balde assisted Lewandowski who doubled his tally with a gorgeous finish, and Barça cruised to the finish as the final whistle came to secure all three points and a clean sheet. The score doesn’t tell the full story of the game as Barça fully dominated from start to finish and could have easily scored five or six on another night, but they weren’t efficient enough in the box to make this a bigger score. But this was still a quality victory and an excellent performance, and Barça get a little closer to an automatic spot in the Champions League Round of 16. The two-game winless streak is over, and Barça now have another home game at the weekend to return to winning ways in La Liga and fully restore the good vibes. Well done, boys! Barcelona : Peña; Kounde, Cubarsí, Iñigo, Martín (Balde 78’); Casadó, Pedri (De Jong 88’); Raphinha, Olmo (Gavi 68’), Fermín (Torre 78’); Lewandowski Goals: Lewandowski (pen 10’, 90+2’), Olmo (66’) Brest : Bizot; Lala, Chardonnet, Le Cardinal, Haidara; Camara (Faivre 70’), Fernandes (Martin 78’), Magnetti; Doumbia (Pereira-Lage 70’), Ajorque (Del Castillo 78’), Sima (Baldé 59’) Goals: None
A poor start to Erik ten Hag’s third season in charge last month led the Red Devils to turn to the 39-year-old. Ruben Amorim says Manchester United are a massive club but not a massive team as he continues to try and turn around a group that need to “run like mad dogs” if they are to become winners. A poor start to Erik ten Hag’s third season in charge last month led the Red Devils to turn to the 39-year-old, who immediately lifted the mood after swapping Sporting for Old Trafford. Amorim followed a draw at Ipswich in his opening match with entertaining wins against Bodo/Glimt and Everton, yet he repeatedly attempted to manage expectations. The Portuguese said United would “suffer for a long period” and then warned a “storm will come” ahead of Wednesday’s 2-0 loss at Arsenal – a reality check before hosting Nottingham Forest on Saturday. “I think that is very clear,” Amorim said of the scale of the job. “We are a massive club, but we are not a massive team, and we know it. It’s no problem to say it. “So, we want to improve, we are in a different moment from Arsenal, but you could feel it during the game. “I think we have to believe more because we were not dominant in the game, but we had control in the game. “Not so many chances for Arsenal – of course a lot of set pieces – but we were OK, especially in the first half. We had some good things in that moment, but you could feel that there’s so much to do. “We need to be better in the final third, we have to create more danger, they have to feel it. “I felt that Arsenal had problems to block our build up but then when they were defending the goal it was quite comfortable for them, so we are learning these things and trying to improve in two days.” United’s problems mean they enter the weekend 13th in the Premier League standings – quite the sight for fans of a club who have won an English record 20 league titles. Asked if perceptions around the club need to change, Amorim said: “That will not change because this club has glories in the past. “Our players have to understand that this is a very difficult position, so we are not (one of) the best teams in the league, and we have to say that and to think that clearly. “But our past, our club is maybe the best one in the league, so we have here a problem, but we have to focus on the little things, the little details. “If you think in everything, it will be a problem. Let’s focus on the small details and then we will improve it as a team.” Amorim has had precious little time to work on such details having started during an international break followed by a relentless winter schedule. Saturday’s home game against Forest is United’s third of nine matches in December and came with a demand for effort on top of technical quality. “It’s impossible to win the Premier League without a team like that – that every moment runs back, runs forward,” Amorim said. “It is impossible to win. If you want to win, we have to do it. “Even with the best starting XI in the planet without running they will not win nothing, so that is very clear. “If we want to win the Premier League, we have to run like mad dogs. If not, we are not going to win.” Interestingly, Amorim’s comments come six years after compatriot Jose Mourinho spoke about United’s lack of “mad dogs” following a December draw at Southampton. “It doesn’t matter about the system,” the former United manager said. “It has to do with the characteristics of the players and we don’t have many, with all the respect, mad dogs – the ones who bite the ball all the time and press all the time. We don’t have many with that spirit.” Amorim will hope not to be feeling similar after facing Forest, having previously said he needs to improve the “physical aspect of the team”. “The problem to be fit enough is if they can cope with that,” United’s head coach said. “If they are used to do that in training, they will do that in games. “So, they are professional athletes, they can improve this. You cannot be faster, but you can run more with training. We are in that path.”

If you've been waiting for them to hit just the right discount, this sale might be the time, because a number of them are cheaper than they were in the Steam Winter Sale a few months ago. Baldur's Gate 3 | $47.99/£39.99 (20% off) | 🏆 Game of the Year 2023 How much needs to be said about Baldur's Gate 3, really? We awarded it a 97% , our highest review score in years, with Fraser Brown calling it "the greatest RPG I've ever played." This is the same discount as we saw in the Steam Winter Sale—not much, but something! Against the Storm | $19.49/£16.24 (35% off) This dark fantasy city builder left early access near the end of last year, and earned one of our rare over-90% review scores . Diablo 4 | $29.99/£25.19 (40% off) A mix of ultra-gloom dark fantasy adventuring and goofy action RPG theorycrafting . It's had some ups and downs since launch, but we're positive on it. And its Vessel of Hatred expansion is on sale too. Starfield | $41.99/£35.99 (40% off) A slightly larger discount than we saw in the Winter Sale. We're not confident patches will bestow Starfield with the Skyrim-like longevity we hoped for, but Bethesda says its listening to feedback and trying to make the game better for everyone. Resident Evil 4 | $19.99/£16.49 (50% off) Capcom took a risk in remaking such a beloved game. What it ended up with is no replacement for the original, Rich said in his review , but it's still an outstanding tribute to a classic. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor | $17.49/£14.99 (75% off) Respawn did it again with some good Star Warsin' at a time when there's not a lot of good Star Warsin' outside of Andor. Jedi: Survivor is "easily the best modern Star Wars game," as Morgan put it . This discount is a 5% improvement on the Winter Sale's 50%. Remnant 2 | $24.99/£20.99 (50% off) | 🏆 Best Shooter 2023 A co-op shooter with some genuinely weird locations and bosses—we described one of them as "a giant alien god that can punch through reality"—and distinctive, challenging third-person gun and melee combat. Like the first game, it's best played with friends. Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty | $23.99/£19.99 (20% off) | 🏆 Best Expansion 2023 Cyberpunk's new expansion, which completed the game's redemption arc, is on sale for a modest 15% off. The base game's 50% off as well, or you can grab the two in a bundle for 43% off the total. Jusant | $14.99/£13.49 (40% off) A lovely climbing game that came out around the same time Starfield and Phantom Liberty were dominating our time and attention, Jusant has been a bit of a sleeper hit. It's also an impressive shift in style for Don't Nod after years of Life Is Strange. This discount is slightly better than the Winter Sale discount. Street Fighter 6 | $29.99/£24.99 (50% off) The Yakuza-esque story mode is goofy fun, and the optional simplified controls, new tutorials, and expanded training options are a boon for anyone who's ever wanted to be good at Street Fighter (or at least, understand what it means to be good), but needed some patient tutoring. System Shock | $15.99/£13.99 (60% off) | 🏆 Best Remake 2023 Looking Glass's original System Shock was often overlooked in favor of its famous successor, and no matter how much you love the classics, it can be hard to go back to its chunky, pre-mouselook interface and grueling, sink-or-swim exploration. Enter Nightdive's excellent remake . This is a significantly better discount than we saw in last year's Winter Sale. Dave the Diver | $13.99/£11.89 (30% off) | 🏆 Best Design 2023 Dave the Diver was at the heart of a recent debate over whether facts or vibes should determine if a game is "indie" in the first place. Here's my take: Who cares? It's a brilliant videogame adventure that starts as a deceptively simple fishing and restaurant management game, and then spins up into completely unexpected and wonderful places. Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew | $26.79/£23.44 (33% off) | 🏆 Best Stealth 2023 A "stealth strategy" game with Pirates of the Caribbean vibes that, fair warning, will likely lead to the thought "just one more mission, then I'll go to bed... for real this time." We're sad this is the final game from developer Mimimi. Pizza Tower | $13.39/£10.04 (33% off) One of our favorite games of last year, seriously. It's a "non-stop, absurd, and wonderful slice of speedrunning action," we said in our 90% review . This is another slight improvement on the Winter Sale discount. Dredge | $14.99/£13.19 (40% off) | 🏆 Best Setting 2023 Fishing and horror? An excellent combo. Explore the murky waters around an odd little island, upgrade your boat, and be careful what you catch. There's more than mackerel and cod in the dark depths, and you may instead haul in some Lovecraftian horrors. A slightly better discount than in the last sale. Viewfinder | $13.74/£10.99 (45% off) Take pictures of the environment and then literally paste them into the level geometry to solve puzzles. The sort of playful, meditative indie puzzler with a narrated story we don't get as often as we used to, probably because a mechanic this clever doesn't come around often. Highly recommended in our 87% review. Steam Autumn Sale: Under $25 Prince of Persia The Lost Crown | $19.99/£17.49 (50% off) Prince of Persia returned this year as a platformer with more style than I think anyone expected. Although we'll probably never get a proper sequel , it's a steal at its lowest price ever. Red Dead Redemption 2 | $19.79/£19.79 (67% off) Rockstar's sprawling Western is more than worth the discounted price. Its dusty open world is almost as beautiful and thrilling as the story it tells over its six chapters. Half-Life: Alyx | $19.79/£16.49 (67% off) Set five years before Half-Life 2, Half-Life: Alyx drops the chaotic firefights the series is known for into a VR-exclusive game. Its got a bit of a horror and a lot of clever, physics-based toys to play with. God of War | $19.99/£15.99 (60% off) In 2022, one of the best PlayStation games became one of the best PC games, and now it's the cheapest it's ever been on Steam. Hades | $9.99/£8.39 (60% off) | 🏆 Best Action Game 2020 If you never got around to Supergiant's 2020 insta-classic roguelike, this is the best price we've seen for it. Come for the punchy combat, stay for the messy Greek god drama. The Case of the Golden Idol | $10.79/£10.19 (40% off) | 🏆 Best Story 2022 The lowest price we've seen on a brilliant detective game from a couple years ago. Its "deep and fascinating" story earned it one of our GOTY awards in 2022. Marvel's Midnight Suns |$8.99/£7.49 (85% off) 🏆 2022 GOTY Runner-Up XCOM-maker Firaxis created our favorite recent superhero game, a mix of XCOM's gridded turn-based tactics, deckbuilding, and a friendship sim. It was definitely underloved, and is a steal at this price. Teardown | $14.99/£12.99 (50% off) |🏆 Best Sandbox 2022 A physics-based, voxel-powered playground melded with a genius puzzle game: "If I blow up this entire mansion, will I have space to drive this sportscar into the ocean?" Crusader Kings 3 | $14.99/£12.59 (70% off) | 🏆 Best Strategy Game 2020 One of the great strategy games of the 2020s so far, CK3 is "an irrepressible story engine that spits out a constant stream of compelling alt-histories, delightfully infuriating characters and social puzzle," reads our 94% review . This is an even bigger discount than in the last sale. Risk of Rain 2 | $8.24/£6.59 (67% off) An excellent roguelike about fighting hordes of monsters while collecting and combining items to generate increasingly absurd effects. Grab the bundle with the excellent expansion ; it's still under $20. Hunt: Showdown 1986 | $19.49/£16.89 (35% off) Post Malone's favorite shooter, Hunt remains one of the most interesting FPSes in gaming right now. Other extraction shooters (and other shooters in general) should take note. Steam Autumn Sale: Under $10 Monster Hunter Rise | $9.99/£8.24 (75% off) | 🏆 Best Co-op Game 2022 These monsters aren't going to hunt themselves. Monster Hunter Rise is a surprisingly excellent entry in the long-running series. Plus, you can use it to train for Monster Hunter Wilds next year. Hollow Knight | $7.49/£6.39 (50% off) The sequel, Hollow Knight: Silksong, will come out eventually. In the meantime, seven-and-a-half bucks is a low price to pay to find out why fans of this 2017 metroidvania are so hyped for the follow-up. Sable | $9.99/£8.39 (60% off) | 🏆 Best Narrative 2021 One of the coolest-looking games of the 2020s so far at its lowest price yet. Sable won our Best Narrative award in 2021 for its coming-of-age story about a rite of passage in an otherworldly desert. Pentiment | $9.99/£7.49 (50% off) Obsidian went in a surprising direction for this 2022 gem. Instead of the usual sci-fi or fantasy RPG, it's a narrative-focused game set in the 16th century, and it's great . This is its lowest price yet. Card Shark | $7.99/£6.70 (60% off) | 🏆 Best Design 2022 Balatro is all the rage right now, but here's another great adaptation of a casino card game: Card Shark isn't about playing cards so much as it is about cheating at cards. Strange Horticulture | $4.79/£4.04 (70% off) 🏆 Best Puzzle Game 2022 Inheriting a plant shop where nothing is labeled sounds stressful, but it's actually a wonderful combination of cozy and spooky thanks to fascinatingly odd customers, and a cat you can pet. Roadwarden | $5.49/£4.14 (50% off) This beautiful classic text adventure gives you 40 days to solve a mystery and complete your mission in a world full of dangerous animals and manipulative locals. It's "the first text adventure I enjoyed as much as a good book," said Lauren . Mariannette Miller-Meeks won her reelection bid Wednesday after a recount confirmed her lead, helping her party pad its thin majority in the U.S. House and retain control of all four of Iowa’s congressional seats. Miller-Meeks said in a post on the social platform X that she was “deeply honored” after she defeated Democrat Christina Bohannan in a rematch of 2022, when Miller-Meeks won by 7 percentage points. The margin this year was much tighter — Miller-Meeks' lead over Bohannan was less than a percentage point, or fewer than 1,000 votes. “I am now looking forward to getting back to work in Washington to lower prices at the gas pump, grocery store and on prescription drugs, secure the border and help farmers," said Miller-Meeks, who represents the 1st District, which includes the eastern part of the state and a swath of south-central Iowa, including Johnson County, home to University of Iowa in Iowa City. Miller-Meeks earned a first term in Congress representing Iowa’s 2nd District when she defeated Democrat Rita Hart by just six votes in 2020. The Associated Press called this year's race at 4:02 p.m. ET on Wednesday. Miller-Meeks had declared victory earlier, but the AP had not yet called the race because the margin was close enough that it could prompt a recount. Bohannan's campaign on Nov. 14 requested a recount , as any candidate is allowed to do, saying in a statement that the recount will make certain “that every voter is heard.” She congratulated Miller-Meeks in a message on X after the vote count was completed. “Although this is not the result we wanted, I am so proud of our campaign,” she wrote. “We exceeded all expectations and turned a district that many pundits thought was unwinnable into one of the very closest races in the country.” The request was made for a recount in each of the district’s 20 counties. Because the margin was less than a percentage point, the state — not the candidate — pays for the costs associated with the recount. Miller-Meeks’ campaign accused Bohannan and other Democrats of being “election deniers," and Republicans have said Bohannan is wasting taxpayer dollars. “This is a delaying tactic to thwart the will of the people,” the Miller-Meeks campaign said in a Nov. 14 statement. “A recount won’t meaningfully change the outcome of this race as the congresswoman’s lead is mathematically impossible to overcome.” Republican incumbents held onto Iowa’s three other congressional seats, maintaining GOP control over the entirety of Iowa’s congressional delegation. The sweep in 2022 represented the first time in three decades that Iowa had an all-Republican delegation, emblematic of the sharp rightward shift in the state not long after former President Barack Obama carried Iowa in 2008 and again in 2012. Obama won with solid support from the eastern counties along the Mississippi River that have mostly backed Trump since and bolster Miller-Meeks' in her district as well. Two competitive congressional races in Iowa this year — the 1st and 3rd Districts — brought millions of dollars in paid advertising to the state from national campaign arms for House Republican and Democrats. Zach Nunn fought off the challenge from Democrat Lanon Baccam in the 3rd District, which includes much of the Des Moines metro area. Republican incumbents Ashley Hinson in the 2nd District and Randy Feenstra in the 4th District won decisively. Hinson defeated Democrat Sarah Corkery. Feenstra defeated Democrat Ryan Melton.

Cardi B says she went on a massive shopping spree following her divorce from Offset , spending $2 million on designer jewelry, bags, and more. She explained the decision after claiming she charges $1.5 million for concerts in the United States. “In October alone, I spent about $2 million just on my gifts I bought for myself,” Cardi said on X (formerly Twitter) Spaces. “Because you know what? I’m divorced, I’m single and shopping makes me feel good.” The topic originally arose as fans complained about the latest delay to her long-awaited sophomore album . She explained that, despite not dropping a new album since 2018, she's not hurting for cash. “I get paid $1.5 million to do shows in America, depending on the venue. Because If the venue is big, I gotta get $2 million. If I’m going out of the state, I’m getting [$2.5 million.]," she said. “I pay my nanny for my baby $700 a day,. Every single time I step out just hair and makeup is about $4,000, $5,000, depending on the length of the f*ckig hair. My outfits don’t even be less than f*cking $8,000. Just so I can step out of the house, let’s make that clear.” Read More: Cardi B Promises She's "Whipping Everybody’s Ass" In 2025 Nov 1, 2024; West Allis, WI, USA; Rapper and songwriter Cardi B speaks at a campaign event for Vice President Kamala Harris Friday, November 1, 2024, at Wisconsin State Fair Park in West Allis, Wisconsin. Manchester United criticised over ‘offensive’ price increase for match ticketsAfter closing the books on a banner year for US stocks, investors expect to ride seasonal momentum into mid-January when a slew of economic data and a transition of power in Washington could send markets moving. The S&P 500 rose almost 27% in 2024 through Dec. 26, while the technology-heavy Nasdaq Composite index, which surpassed 20,000 for the first time in December, is up 33.4%. November through January is traditionally a strong period in the market, said Michael Rosen, chief investment officer at Angeles Investments. Additionally, stocks tend to do well in the last five trading days of December and into the first two days of January, a phenomenon dubbed the Santa Claus rally, which has driven S&P gains of an average of 1.3% since 1969, according to the Stock Trader's Almanac. For the last four trading sessions, the S&P rose 2.91%, while the Nasdaq is up 3.3%, lifting hopes for a repeat. "The underlying data suggests that that's likely to continue," Rosen said. Just how long that momentum lasts will depend on several forces that could help drive markets in 2025. Monthly US employment data on Jan. 10 should give investors a fresh view into the health and strength of the US economy. Job growth rebounded in November following hurricane- and strike-related setbacks earlier in the year. The market's strength will be tested again shortly after, when US companies start reporting fourth-quarter earnings. Investors anticipate a 10.6% earnings per share growth in 2025, versus a 12.16% expected rise in 2024, according to LSEG data, although excitement over President-elect Donald Trump's policies is expected to boost the outlook for some sectors, like banks, energy and crypto. "There's the hope that taxes and regulations will be lowered or reduced next year, that will help support corporate profits, which are what drive the market in the first place," said Rosen. Trump's inauguration on Jan. 20 could also throw the markets some curve balls. He is expected to release at least 25 executive orders in his first day on a range of issues from immigration to energy and crypto policy. Trump has also threatened tariffs on goods from China and levies on products from both Mexico and Canada, as well as to crack down on immigration, creating costs that companies could ultimately pass on to consumers. Helen Given, associate director of trading at Monex USA, said a new administration always brings with it a large degree of uncertainty. There is also a good chance the impact of the Trump administration's expected trade policies is far from fully priced into global currency markets, she added. "We're looking ahead to see which of those proposed policies actually are enacted, which might be further down the pipeline," Given said, adding she expected a big impact on the euro, Mexican peso, the Canadian dollar, and the Chinese yuan. The conclusion of the Federal Reserve's first monetary policy meeting of the year in late January could also present a challenge to the US stocks rally. Stocks tumbled on December 18 when the Fed implemented its third interest-rate cut for the year and signalled fewer cuts in 2025 because of an uncertain inflation outlook, disappointing investors who had expected lower rates to boost corporate profits and valuations. Still, that could be good for alternative assets like cryptocurrencies. The incoming crypto-friendly Trump administration is adding to a number of catalysts that are boosting crypto investors' confidence, said Damon Polistina, head of research at investment platform Eaglebrook Advisors. Bitcoin surged above $107,000 this month on hopes of friendlier Trump policies. "Crypto is viewed broadly as a kind of risk on assets. So, any Fed cutting rates is a positive... Any positive economic data in early January will help maintain the momentum that we're seeing," Polistina added.
Tomislav Ivisic scored a career-high 23 points to lead six players in double figures as No. 24 Illinois raced past visiting Chicago State 117-64 on Sunday in Champaign, Ill. Kylan Boswell also starred for the Fighting Illini (9-3) with an 18-point, 10-rebound, 10-assist triple-double. Dra Gibbs-Lawhorn added 16 points, while Kasparas Jakucionis contributed 14. Will Riley hit for 13 points and Morez Johnson Jr. came off the bench to net 11. Gabe Spinelli scored 20 points for the winless Cougars (0-15) and Noble Crawford added 15, but they just didn't have the scoring punch to stay with their Big Ten Conference opponent. Illinois outshot Chicago State 62.1 percent (41 of 66) to 37.3 percent (25 of 67) from the field and 45.5 percent (15 of 33) to 32.3 percent (10 of 31) from the 3-point line. The Cougars were also outrebounded 47-23. Illinois led for all but 24 seconds of the game, scoring basically at will. The Illini reaped a 28-4 advantage in free-throw attempts, drew 26 assists and earned a 48-16 advantage in points in the paint. In its last game before jumping into the bulk of its Big Ten schedule Thursday night at Oregon, Illinois wasted no time putting its stamp on the game. It carved out a double-figure edge at the 14:59 mark of the first half on Gibbs-Lawhorn's 3-pointer that made it 17-7 and simply kept expanding that lead. The margin reached 20 for the first time with 10:06 left when Ivisic drained a 3-pointer from the right wing for a 32-10 cushion. Johnson's foul shot with 3:43 remaining increased the advantage to 30 at 48-18, and Jake Davis' 3-pointer from the corner with a second on the clock gave the Illini a 60-24 cushion at halftime. Boswell's short jumper with 18:22 left in the game built Illinois' first 40-point advantage at 65-24. Riley splashed a 3-pointer with 9:57 remaining to up the lead to 50 at 93-43. Davis made another 3-pointer at the 7:59 mark to get the Illini to the 100-point threshold. They led by as many as 58 points in the final two minutes. --Field Level Media
